Singing Assessments! Empty Singing Assessments!

I personally like singing assessments. I think they are fun because you get to hear how much you and your peers have improved throughout the year and you can support your fellow chorus members. I also like them because when I look at the rubric I can see not only what categories I am doing well in but I can see what I need improvement in. I then use those critiques and focus on them in rehearsals. Now, I don't usually get nervous during singing assessments because I am used to auditions and performances. One thing that does happen to me though is I tend to think so much about what I'm singing and getting the right pitch that I forget about my vowel shaping, posture, and dynamics. I feel like you can either look at singing assessments in a positive or a negative way. If you think about it in a negative way, then you will be nervous and not try as hard so you won't do very well. On the other hand, if you think about them in a positive way, then you will realize that they are made to help you and you will relax more. Overall, I think that singing assessments are very much needed and they help every individual improve the chorus.
