Singing Assessments
I'm very happy with the recent format of singing assessments. Typically, we either sing an excerpt from our sight-singing books or we sing an excerpt from one of our songs. With the former, most students grow accustomed to stumbling their way through and have no problem with it. With the later, students worry how they sound in front of their peers. With the new method, we're slowly using tools we've been learning rather than risking a mistake without them. Also, the new method is much less intimidating. A short little exercise were we don't even have to stand up is the least bit intimidating. I'm glad that we're slowly but surely making progress with our music theory. By the end of the year, we'll be much more adapt to our hand signs, do-re-mis, and our music. Not to mention that in a few years, we'll be prepared to learn our notes much faster than ever before.
