The words in music have always fascinated me. I love to hear the story behind the song and think of my own interpretations of the text. I have never gotten very into orchestra or electronic music simply because there were no words in it. In order to give the text justice,we as a class must make individual interpretations of the words, and develop our own emotional connection to the piece. Also, dynamics can play a role in properly executing the words of a song, and can show the emotion behind the text. For example, singing loudly can be happy, angry, or boastful; while singing softly can be melancholy, shy, or intense. It is also important for choral groups to over enunciate their words so the meaning of the song is clear for the audience.
