Notable Artist - Little Dragon

One of the greatest qualities of music is that over time, it's bound to develop in often unpredictable ways. With independent recording growing more affordable as well the as the internet allowing artists to market their songs to nearly anyone, we can choose to expose ourselves to almost limitless different genres and artists. One of the most consistent and original artists to have come out in the past couple years is the Swedish-Japanese electronic/r&b act known as Little Dragon. Lead singer Yukimi Nagano's history lesson on American soul is just as compelling as the R&B chanteuse in "Constant Surprises" as it is juxtaposed on top of the beautiful futurist landscape of "Feather". The group's strength lies in the synergy of Yagami's striking melodies and the band's unique exploration of eclectic genres. At worst, they suffer from the occasional tendency to overlook song development as a result of an effort to evoke a varied musical palette. At best Little Dragon effortlessly dominates the genre's that classify them. After three albums Little Dragon has continued to impress me with their fearlessly creative exploration paired with strong melodic hooks. Little Dragon is currently one of the most exciting artists for me to follow and listen to.
