Life Has Loveliness To Sell
One of the songs in this concert that really touches me happens to be my favorite. Life Has Loveliness to Sell was a poem originally written by Sarah Teasdale (forgive me in case I just butchered the spelling of her name). I find it ironic that she took her own life after writing this poem but at the same time, I find it rather sad. Memento Mori is not about the fear of death, but about living your life to the fullest, which I feel is most portrayed by this song. While performing this song, I physically feel the power of the music, which I believe the composer did an incredible job of expressing the emotions in this song. My favorite line is "children's faces looking up, holding wonder like a cup". The way the line is composed always strikes me. Life is unknown and we just have to accept the mysteries of life as they come towards us. We cannot worry about what the future might hold because in doing so, we will forget our present and we will regret things that have occured in the past.
