I would like to give out to this months student of the month, Emma Givney. Emma truly loves chorus. Even though she sometimes gets called out for talking or being loud, I can tell that she is almost always talking about the music, and has the chorus's best interest at heart. She really deserved student of the month this time around. She is so enthusiastic about chorus. I know she works hard outside of class as well, which shows true dedication. Her solo in "I Believe in God" is beautiful! Theres not too much added notation, which I was a bit nervous for for whoever got the solo. She does a great job with it and I have personally never heard her sing so well. I think gospel is a great style choice for Emma! I know she worked hard to get that solo and is working even harder to perfect it, so as to impress the chorus and not let anyone down, and that to me is very admirable. Although I did not see the rest of the auditions, I know she really deserved that solo. Keep up the great work Emma!

I too would like to congratulate Emma. I would first like to start off by saying that I think Emma serves as a great role model for the chorus. Not only is Emma hard-working, but the poise and grace that she meets with difficult situations within the program demonstrates maturity and respect. When things get rough, I know that we can rely on Emma’s wise comments to bring us back down and think before we act. Also, when I first heard sing the solo, I was so impressed. Like Abbey said, gospel just fits Emma’s voice so well, and her dedication to the piece was obvious. I know that at times having a solo can be stressful especially as the concert comes closer. I would just like to say that I am so proud of Emma for being able to push past the difficulty of stress and put on an AMAZING performance. It is for these reasons and many more that Emma truly deserves the student of the month award.
